Help your child to be well organised:
Equipment
Your child will be given their timetable. Get them to check their next day’s lessons before going to bed and make them pack the equipment in their bag ready for next morning. Make sure that they have at least the basic writing equipment – pen, pencil, ruler, eraser and have the correct kit for practical lessons.
Homework
Encourage your child to get into the routine of doing homework, try to have a set time each night, e.g. before tea or straight after, not too late in the evening. Make sure your child has a quiet, comfortable place to work.
Absenteeism
If your child is ill telephone the College. On return to College your child needs a note of explanation that will be kept in their file. It is the responsibility of the child to find out what work has been missed and to ask the teacher for help to catch up.
Holidays should not be taken during term time. They have an adverse effect on your child’s attendance record and on their learning. We will authorise up to two weeks per year in Years 7 and 8 if your child's attendance is above 95%, but we do not authorise any holidays in Years 9, 10 and 11.
