As an Arts and Sports College we have five key subjects that together combine to make us a very successful Specialist College.  Art, Dance, Drama, Music and PE sit at the heart of student experience at Mortimer.  Our Specialism allows us to provide a full access to a range of Sports and Arts activities both inside and outside of lessons throughout the five years at Mortimer Community College.
It is our aim that the Specialist subjects have an impact across the school, so students may well find themselves involved in a Shakespeare football project in English or in an Art design project in ICT.  It is in this way we make sure that the skills and concepts from within the specialist subjects underpin learning; this is why teamwork, leadership and creativity are central elements of a student’s experience and why our students leave school with the skills necessary to help them succeed in life.
We also provide a full range of extra-curricular Sports and Arts activities to help engage students in activities that they might not have tried before as well as provide opportunities for them to pursue their own interests.
Our Specialist subjects are hugely successful and were recognised by OFSTED who commented that the Specialism of Sports and Arts has a significant impact on driving whole school improvement.
